Asco

The challenge
The ICT infrastructure at Asco had grown organically over the years. Each modification that was made constituted a specific response to local problems. Eventually the server park and the network became a patchwork of workaround solutions that lacked performance and ultimately proved to be insecure when confronted with a virus outbreak (introduced via USB).

The solution
Skillteam worked on the consolidation and optimization of the server park during this outbreak, and as a result the decision was made straightaway to upgrade the network environment as soon as possible. Skillteam assumed responsibility for this as well, and restructured the network in accordance with a specific security model.

A sampling of the actions that Skillteam carried out in the course of restructuring the network and server park:

  • design of a redundant network between the different production facilities and the server rooms
  • installation of distributed core switches in data rooms and locations having a high concentration of employees
  • implementation of virtual LAN's in order to provide better internal protection and security
  • checking and replacement of out-of-date switches
  • relief of heavily burdened nodes and bottlenecks by way of a more efficient network architecture

The result
Asco's network is running much more efficiently today, and its ICT security is more reliable than ever. With this network upgrade, it turns out that the company was and continues to be prepared for new ICT projects in partnership with Skillteam.  Asco has therefore been a satisfied customer for years.
